July 3
Three leading players, the captain Tom Graham, Jack Taylor and Dave Elder, are stood down from Richmond’s team because of their actions on the Ballarat trip. Harry Layton, Alf Searle and Paddy Purcell refuse to play without them. The former three were “asked to resign” and the latter three were expelled.
Fred Wookey assumes Tom Graham’s role as captain.
Due to the dearth of senior players, six juniors are called up from the second twenty. The second’s game against Brighton is cancelled.
