BIOGRAPHY
Arthur was a half-forward-flanker who was recruited from the local Richmond area. A fast player and accurate kick, he was a similar style of player to 1995 coach John Northey. He was a member of the 1944 Grand Final team. In 1946 he won the Seniors’ Goalkicking award and ran third in the Best and Fairest award. His highest individual goal tallies were 6 against Geelong in Round 7 of 1944 and 5 against Collingwood in Round 18 of 1947. He also won the Reserves’ Best and Fairest in 1943. After six seasons with Richmond he moved to Morwell where he spent three years. He later became a founding member of the Maryvale Football Club, in Gippsland. He served that club as secretary and then treasurer between 1960 and 1967 and was later awarded Life Membership. Arthur died in 1988.
