Albert played most of his football in the ruck, where his fine physique and strong marking made him a very formidable opponent. He originally played with Carlton and whilst there he captained Victoria in 1922. He crossed to Richmond in 1926 and the following year played with Horsham. He was also a fine athlete who won the 220 yards at Stawell and came third in the hurdles in 1919. His son, Bill, was made a Life Member of Richmond after coaching the Fourths for eight years and the Scholarship Squad for six years. Bill also worked as the club’s sprint coach.
