BIOGRAPHY
Bert played mainly as a ruckman. Originally from Echuca, he was a powerfully built player who used his strength fairly in rucking and marking contests. He was also a strong mark and a fine kick. His highest individual goal tally was 4 which he kicked against St Kilda in 1933 and South Melbourne in 1935. He was a member of the 1934 Premiership side and the 1928, 1931 and 1933Grand Final sides. He also represented Victoria once in 1931. After leaving Richmond he coached Sandringham for two years , before returning to Richmond as playing-coach of the Reserves. Bert served on the Richmond Committee in 1940. Afireman, he was tragically killed in a road accident in 1942.
