BIOGRAPHY
Doug played as a wingman, rover and back-pocket. A pacy player who had great anticipation, he was 25 when he made his debut with Richmond. He later went on to represent Victoria four times. A clever player with good goal sense, he was a member of Richmond’s 1927 Grand Final side. His highest individual goal tally was 5 which he kicked three times including the 1924 semi-final against South Melbourne. He was awarded Life Membership in 1928 and he served on the Richmond Committee in 1929 and 1930. He also served in the Australian Infantry Forces during the First World War and was the father of Alan Hayes.
