BIOGRAPHY
Duncan has played most of his senior football in defence, usually on the half-back line. H has been very impressive during his short career with his strong marking and courageous endeavours to win the ball. He is in his seventh season at Richmond and has worked very hard to make the senior side. A high possession winner, he won the Under/19 Best and Fairest award in 1991 and was a Victorian Teal Cup representative, as well as earning selection in the All-Australian team. He made his senior debut on the same day as Matthew RICHARDSON against St.Kilda in May, 1993. Duncan’s marked improvement in 1994 saw him beat several quality opponents including Melbourne captain Gary LYON. He finished the season on a high note by running third in the Seniors’ Best and Fairest award. In 1995, his form continued to improve and he was selected in the State of Origin team to play South Australia. A fine team player he is relentless in his efforts to beat opponents and doesn’t give them any latitude at all. Away from football, he is a qualified physiotherapist. Duncan is the nephew of former Melbourne Premiership captain John BECKWITH. One of his brothers, Lachlan, is a former Collingwood Reserves player while his other brother, Andrew, is currently on the club’s supplementary list. Both brother have also played for Sandringham.
