BIOGRAPHY
Jack played at full-back or half-back after being recruited from North Williamstown. A steady, reliable, consistent left-footed defender, he won the Reserves’ Best and Fairest award in 1934.
For his 1936 season, Haydn Bunton listed Cotter as one of the most improved players of the League. "It is no mean performance to enter a side like Richmond with one previous senior match, and retain a place for the full 18 games."
He was also a member of the 1940 Grand Final side before crossing to South Melbourne after the war. He later coached Golden Point, Alexandra and Dunolly to Premierships before retiring at the age of 44. Jack also served in the Army between 1942 and 1946.
