BIOGRAPHY
John was a full-forward who was recruited from South Ballarat where he won the 1926 Ballarat League Goalkicking award. A fine left foot drop kick, he scored 5 goals on his debut against Footscray in Round 15 of 1927. His highest individual goal tally was 7 against Essendon in Round 3 of 1929. He was a member of Richmond’s 1927 Grand Final team. After leaving, Richmond he moved to Preston for one year as they were paying five pounds per game compared to Richmond’s three pounds per game. He later returned to South Ballarat before finishing his career with Buninyong. After retiring as a player, he umpired for four years. Away from football he was a trade assistant with S.E.C.
