BIOGRAPHY
John was a ruck-rover. A relentless trier, he consistently put his body in under packs to win the ball. Strongly built, he played the game in a very positive manner and was a consistently high possession winner. John was a fine team man who had the stamina to run all day, Originally from the goldfields of Kalgoorlie, he played with Claremont before crossing to Collingwood in 1981. He spent three seasons with Collingwood before transferring to Richmond in 1984 with Craig Stewart and Phillip Walsh during the player trade war between the two clubs. John spent three seasons with Richmond and ran second in the 1984 Best and Fairest award. He then returned to Perth and was a member of the first West Coast Eagles side in 1987. He spend four seasons with the Eagles and won their Best and Fairest awards in 1988. He finished his senior career with South Fremantle in 1991. Away from football he is a radiographer.
