BIOGRAPHY
John was a half-back-flanker. He was a strong, steady player without being a star. He originally started his league career with Hawthorn where he played between 1958 and 1960 before crossing to Richmond in 1961. In his first season with Richmond, he ran second in the Best and Fairest and won the Best First Year Player award. He played five seasons with Richmond and was a member of the clubs’ only night Premiership side in 1962. He retired at the age of 25, to concentrate on his business career. John recently retired as a Director of the Richmond Football Club, and now lives in Hawthorn.
