BIOGRAPHY
Kamdyn McIntosh was born in Pinjarra , WA as the third child of nine children . He often acted as a carer to his younger brothers and sisters as his parents both had fly-in , fly-out mining jobs. Kamdyn grew up playing soccer , but switched to AFL football at age
15 with the Pinjarra Tigers in the Peel Thunder League. He played for the West Australian U/16 Representative team in 2010 and the West Australian U/18 Representative team in 2012. In 2012 he also played juniors and reserves with Peel Thunder Football Club and also 4 senior games with the Thunder.
Kamdyn was drafted by Richmond with the club’s 2 nd pick, the 31st selection overall in the 2012 AFL National Draft. Kamdyn , a strong , tall running wingman and utility played no senior games in 2013 and 2014 , instead playing in the Richmond VFL team.
Kamdyn made his debut with Richmond senior team in Round 1, 2015 against Carlton , continuing to play in the senior team for the rest of the season including the Tigers Elimination Final loss to North Melbourne. He also received the Tigers Best first year player award. Kamdyn began the 2016 season strongly but after six games suffered a syndesmosis ankle injury and did not play another senior game in 2016.

After starting 2017 in the senior team , Kamdyn was dropped for Round 2 but was back in Round 3 and played the rest of the
season in the senior team and was a strong contributor to the Tigers 2017 Premiership win over Adelaide. Kamdyn was quoted after the Premiership “ Richmond Premiership mates are all brothers after stunning win over Adelaide “.
Kamdyn played 21 senior games in 2018 , securing a regular place in the senior team that most commentators considered the best team of 2018. Disappointingly the 2018 season ended in a Preliminary Final loss to Collingwood.

Kamdyn started the 2019 season strongly, playing the first 13 games in the senior team , but after that found himself out of the senior side until the end of the home and away season. He was played as a half-back in the VFL team and played in the winning VFL Preliminary Final which made him available for the next weeks VFL Grand Final to be played on the Sunday. On the Friday before the VFL Grand Final Jack Graham and Nathan Broad were injured in the Tigers AFL Preliminary Final win against Geelong and were in some doubt for the AFL Grand Final against GWS the next week..

Kamdyn was considered a possible replacement for either player if they were not able to play in the Grand Final, and was held out of the VFL Grand Final to limit any injury risk for him. The Tigers won the VFL Premiership and Kamdyn and some other VFL players trained with the senior team in the week before the AFL Grand Final. The injury verdict was , Broad was fit to play and Marlion Pickett replaced Graham . Marlion would be playing his first senior game in the Grand Final which became a major story around the Grand Final. Kamdyn was named an emergency and he missed playing in either of the VFL or AFL Premierships. Kamdyn , no doubt disappointed was a very positive presence on Grand Final day supporting all of the players .
During pre-season for 2020 Kamdyn suffered a serious syndesmosis ankle injury which involved 5 weeks recovery. The Covid19
interrupted season 2020 was reduced to 17 home and away games and most Victorian clubs were relocated to Queensland after playing sport was suspended in Victoria for public health reasons . Games were played at Gold Coast ( Metricon ) and Brisbane ( The Gabba ). Some States were not as affected as Victoria and games were played in Tasmania , South Australia , Northern Territory, and Western Australia where a sold out crowd at Optus Stadium watch a relocated “ DreamTime at the G “ Richmond V Essendon blockbuster. Amidst all this background Kamdyn recovered from his injury to play in Round 4. Kamdyn played consistently throughout the rest of the season and secured his place as a member of the Tigers 2020 mPremiership team , beating Geelong in the Grand Final which was played at the Gabba . Kamdyn also finished a career high 5 th in the club’s Best and Fairest in 2020. Kamdyn played 17 senior games in 2021 in what was a disappointing season for the club , the team performance being impacted by injuries to several key players . Kamdyn like many Premiership team mates will be required to play an important role to assist the Tigers to reach the level of competitiveness to return to Finals in 2022.
