BIOGRAPHY

Mabior Chol was born in South Sudan , moved with his family to Egypt and eventually to Queensland when he was 8 years old. After playing basketball and soccer Mabior turned to AFL football and progressed to the Brisbane Lions Academy where he played in 2014 and 2015 . Mabior was drafted by Richmond with pick 30 overall in the 2016 AFL Rookie draft.

Played 16 games for Richmond Reserves in 2016, before being selected in his senior debut for the final game of the season vs Sydney in 2016. His next senior game was 1,021 days later when he was a late call up for a sick Ivan Soldo, against Adelaide in 2019. That same game, Richmond were without Rance, Cotchin, Riewoldt, Edwards.

Mabior continued his skills and physical development in the VFL team in 2017and 2018, not playing a senior game.
Mabior played 9 senior senior games in 2019 highlighting onseveral occasions his skill and surprising speed for his size and his great kicking ability. Despite those promising performances Mabior was dropped back to the VFL where he was a member of the Tigers 2019 VFL Premiership team. Despite some more promising performances in 2020 and 2021 Mabior decided he would exercise his free agent status and move to the Gold Coast at the end of the 2021 season.

A member of the Brisbane Lions Academy from 2013-2014
The left-footer and his family moved from Sudan, via Egypt, when he was eight years old, settling in Brisbane.
He took up the game shortly after, while at school, before entering the Queensland Talent Pathway.
He was a member of the Allies team which took on the AFL Academy on Grand Final Day 2015, and kicked 1 goal.
He also impressed in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships for Queensland.
Chol then went to the AFL Draft Combine, and performed strongly, with an impressive 3km time trial of 10.55min, and finishing third in the country in the repeat sprint test.
