BIOGRAPHY
Matthew was a rover who was originally recruited from Assumption College by Fitzroy. Matthew After four seasons with the Lions, he crossed to Richmond along with Paul BRODERICK, Michael GALE and Jamie ELLIOTT at the end of 1993. He played in the early senior games in 1994, before being dropped to the Reserves where he eventually finished fourth in the “Gardiner Medal’ voting for 1994. Matthew did not regain his senior position until the latter part of 1995 where he performed well as a tagger. In 1995, he completed his Certificate in Fitness Instruction which qualified him to work as a personal trainer.
