BIOGRAPHY
Neville was a centreman, half-forward and full-forward. An intelligent player, he was a very strong mark and dangerous near goal. He started his senior career with West Torrens where he spent two years before joining Richmond. He spent three seasons with Richmond and represented Victoria once. His highest individual goal tally with Richmond was 6 against South Melbourne in Round 16 of 1975 and he kicked 5 goals or more four times. In 1975, he won the “Murie Cup” for gaining the most umpires’ votes in the “Brownlow” and “Gardiner Medal” counts. In 1978, he returned to West Torrens where he played until 1981, captaining the side in his last two years. He then crossed to Norwood where he played between 1982 and 1987 winning four club Goalkicking awards, which included kicking 100 goals on two occasions and playing in the 1982 and 1984 Premiership sides. During the 1982 season, he kicked tallies of 10 and 11 goals in consecutive weeks from the half-forward-flank. He captained Norwood in 1985 and 1986 and represented South Australia on five occasions, finishing his career with 714 senior goals. Since retiring as a player, he has worked as a football commentator in Adelaide.
