BIOGRAPHY
Noel was a utility player who was a strong mark and very determined. He originally played with Port Fairy, before moving to Fitzroy’s Under/19s in 1975. He spent seven seasons with Fitzroy, five with the seniors before moving to Richmond in 1982. He was badly injured in his second game for Richmond when he sustained severe internal injuries that sidelined him for almost an entire season. He recovered and played briefly with the Richmond Reserves in 1983 before crossing to West Perth where he played for five seasons. He returned to Victoria in 1988, to coach Hampden League side South Warrnambool. He coached that club for six seasons, leading them to back-to-back Premierships in 1990 and 1991. He is a public servant and lives near Warrnambool. In 1996 he is coaching Koroit. Noel is the brother-in-law of former Collingwood and Sydney Swans player, Bill Picken.
