BIOGRAPHY
Ray was a half-forward-flanker who spent one season with Richmond before crossing to Frankston. His two senior games were in Rounds 15 and 16 of 1925 against Essendon and Melbourne and he kicked 3 goals in his debut game against Essendon. A good all-round sportsman he also played with the Melbourne Cricket Club Senior XI in the District Cricket Competition between 1926 and 1931. He was an all-rounder who scored 101 runs with a highest score of 45 and took four wickets. He played with the Melbourne Second XI between 1925 and 1939. In season 1926/27 he took a hattrick for the Melbourne Second XI and was a member of their Premiership sides in 1927/28, 1928/29, 1929/30 and 1930/31. He captained the Melbourne Second XI from 1934 until 1939. He died in 1988. Ray was the son of Ben Baxter who played 67 games for Essendon between 1902 and 1906.
