BIOGRAPHY
Richard played mainly as a full-back. He was a steady, reliable player who moved well and was a long kick. He started with the Sturt Fourths in 1971, spending three seasons there, before moving to Queensland where he played with Mayne. After one season with Mayne, he was recruited by Footscray. He played with Footscray for five seasons before transferring to Geelong and was a member of two Reserves’ Premiership teams. He then crossed to Richmond for one season, before giving the game away for two seasons. He returned to football in 1986 as playing-coach of Box Hill, leading them to their second VFA Premiership. He then retired from football to concentrate on his job in the security industry. He now lives in Templestowe.
