BIOGRAPHY
Sean played as ruck-rover and defender. He joined Richmond’s Under/19 team in 1989 and was a member of their Premiership side. His senior games with Richmond were mainly in defence. During 1991 he had an outstanding year with the Reserves, and in several games collected 40 or more possessions. He capped the year off by winning the Best and Fairest award. He was later left off the senior list at the end of 1991. He achieved an enviable grand final record with 1990 being the first season he played in a side that did not make the grand final, since 1981. Altogether he has played in six Premiership sides. He joined his brother, Rhett, at Port Melbourne in 1992 and both have performed well. He represented the VFA in 1994 and 1995. Another brother Kane joined Port in 1994. A third brother, Joel, joined Richmond in 1996. Sean is also the son of former player Michael Bowden.
