BIOGRAPHY
Sid usually played in defence after being recruited from Port Melbourne. He kicked 12 goals in his first senior game with Port Melbourne in late 1941. The next week he was relegated to 19th man as several of the regular senior players returned to the side. He spent three seasons with Richmond before returning to Port, where he was a member of their 1947 Premiership side. He later spent two seasons with Northcote before moving to Western Australia. Sid is the father of former Collingwood and Fitzroy player Doug Searl, who was also a very successful coach with the Richmond Thirds.
