BIOGRAPHY
Toby Nankervis was originally drafted from North Launceston with pick 35 overall in the 2013 NAB AFL National Draft. Toby played only 12 senior games with Sydney by the end of the 2016 season and looking for more opportunity sought a trade from Sydney . on 19th October 2016 Toby was traded to Richmond in exchange for draft selection 45 ( Jack Malbaum ).

Toby was one of a trio of recruits secured at the end of 2016 by Richmond through trades . He, along with Dion Prestia and Josh Caddy would have a major influence on the on-field performance of the Tigers in the years to come.
Toby made his senior debut with Richmond in Round 1, 2017 against Carlton. Toby relished the role as virtually a sole ruckman and became a vital member of the senior team with his aggression and competitiveness . Toby may sometimes have found himself outplayed in the ruck hitouts but his clearances from stoppages and his imposing presence around the ground , his strong and effective forward play made him one of the team’s most valuable players.

Toby played in the 2017,2019 and 2020 Premierships proving his versatility by working effectively in sharing the ruck duties with Ivan Soldo in the 2019 Premiership. Toby has been hampered by injury in the home and away games in the past three seasons but was able to play an important role in the 2019 and 2020 Premierships .
